SLJ: Hudson River.

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog. Today for the Summer Learning Journey i'm going to be telling you about the movie/real life plane crash in the Hudson river. If you didn't know they made a whole movie about the plane crash. It's called "Sully." The reason that the plane had a crash landing was because a storm of birds were flying at the plane that a lot of them went into the engine. The plane lost power and flight so they had to have an emergency landing on the Hudson River. No one died because of the smart thinking from Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger.

One time my friend was in a car and his dad was driving and they were on a long drive and they were falling off the Mountain but because of the dad he jumped out of the car and pulled everyone out before it was too late.

EOTC Week!!!

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm sharing the year four, five and six EOTC week trip. If you didn't know EOTC Week (Education Outside of School.) is a yearly thing that schools do. It is a four to five day trip around places in Christchurch.

My school went around the town of Christchurch, Ferry mead Paint ball and Mini Golf, Surfing, Orienteering, The gun in placements at godly head, Ice skating and more. My Favourite was paint balling at ferry mead.

Week Review!

Hello everyone,

Welcome to or back to my blog. Today i'm sharing what we have been doing this week at school. Starting off with Monday: Monday we started off the day like a normal day but something different happen we got a new teacher in our class and her name is Miss Leonard. Then we did things like normal reading, writing and maths. On Tuesday it was the most boring day of the week it was normal. On Wednesday it was another normal day but after lunch we did athletes. But on Thursday we did athletes for nearly the whole day. On friday (today for me) we did choir after morning tea.

Hotspot writing.

Kia ora everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm sharing with you my Hotspot writing. My idea for my hotspot was to do it about fortnite. My writing took me a week to finish I hope you enjoy. We also had to use the starting prompt: “No, no, no!” I was sliding back into the dream. So on and so on I finished it and now i'm sharing it with you so now to my writing.

“No, no, no” I was sliding back into the dream. “Zoommm”. I was skydiving out of the battle bus. It was only me in my team. I was landing at lazy lake. “Arghhh” I was squealing out the air. “Doo yot” I started gliding. I was landing with a thud “ahhhhhhh thud”. I saw a weapon and I picked it up. It was a rusty can “puw puw” I was looking around and saw someone “puw puw” I elmanated him. I danced “pop do do do do do do bop do do do do do do do do do dododo” Half the gaming round went past AngryLil1400 had no more kills. Now near the end of the game it was a 1v1 copycat568wise vs AngryLil1400. “DO DO DOOOO” They started fighting copycat568wise with an AR Scar, tac shotgun, drum gun, bolt action sniper and some mini’s. AngryLil1400 with an AR Scar, pump shotgun, tac smg, heavy sniper and 3 big pots. They fought “puw puw bop bop” they were enjoying an awesome fight. Now both really low on ammo. They used their pick axe “swing swing” both screaming REALLY loud. “Swing swing” the swinging win the game for AngryLil1400. “Wo wo” said AngyLil1400.

5 Minute Writing Challenge! Wow SO Cool.

G'day everyone,

It's Tom. Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm sharing my 5 minute writing with you.

Our amazing teacher Miss D found a cool website called The Most Dangerous Random Prompt Generator (The link is here: LINK!) I used the starting line: "She had missed the last train and there was only one person she could call: It was her father" We are learning to be fluent writers and also know what writing fluency feels like. Now here is my writing.

She had missed the last train and there was only one person she could call: It was her father. He had sadly left her at the age of two. Everyone had loved him. She got his number a couple of years ago. She called him sometimes and he was a train driver. 

Now she had to make a choice I call my father or miss the train. She chose to call her father. 

Hi dad I haven't seen you in a long time but I've missed my train and I need you. If you can... he stopped her. "Yes I can Hun I’m going to pick you up after this train stop what station you at." I’m at station 17. “Ok i’m coming.” Thank you thank you thank you thank you she said. 

She hung up. She was in happy tiers to hear his voice again. Her father came with the train station they hugged both in tiers. Everyone lived happily ever after.

Swimming!

We have already been swimming for four days from the 17-10-19. We swim at Canterbury Swim School and my teachers name is Anya. We our only doing bubbles and breath also backstroke for now. 100 Word Challenge (Hotspot Doc)

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. Today I'm going to sharing with you my 100 word challenge. We used the starting sentences, "My shoes were soaked and the rain wouldn’t stop. A grey car I didn’t recognise pulled up beside me." We had to write what we would think would happen next. We also had to use strong ideas when writing. Eliminate unnecessary ideas and words. Only include what is powerful, meaningful and important. Now to my Hotspot Doc writing.

My shoes were soaked and the rain wouldn’t stop. A grey car I didn’t recognise pulled up beside me. The guy exquisite pulled down the window. “It’s a blustery powerful wet day he said.” I felt disillusioned, angry and fragile as soon as he said that. He had a deep life changing voice. “Do you want to have a lift home.” When I heard that I was scared and overwhelmed. I said in a cheeky voice i’m not going home.“ I can take you where you want to go.” I said optimistically said no and walked away.

Earth once was a beautiful plant I still remember the good days. Scientists made me invincible I could never die well that's what I thought… 

Me thinking that I was invincible made me fearless. So now 100 thousand years later everyone was fearless. People thought I was superman and spider man combined. My earth was a war field everyone had guns, knives, no one was scared. Gun fight after gun fight everyone was just having their best life. I always had my crew of 3 with me. Me and my crew had to wear masks, I had a gold one and they had silver ones.

W5 Writing!

G'day everyone,

Welcome back or to my blog today i'm sharing my writing with you. We had to compare and contrast the 2 styles of shoes. I do my best in my writing so if you see any mistakes tell my in the comments. Now to my writing.

Introduction:  Today we are looking at a pair of sneakers and a pair of scuffs.

Compare: The sneakers are running shoes. Similarly, the scuffs are walking shoes.

Contrast: Instead of having shoelaces like the sneakers, the scuffs are slide ons.

Conclusion: I think that the scuffs are the better choice because they are easy to get on and you can wear them at the beach.

Writing Post!!!

Hello everyone,

Welcome back or to my blog. Today i'm sharing my writing with you. We have been writing this with a video that we have been watching it's 7 to 8 year old boys, 800 meter race and we had to use the ideas from sound. For example "The audience was cheering so loud." Now here is my writing.

The men and women in the high-vis jackets where telling me were to stand in a loud voice. My heart was thumping at one million miles an hour. I was waiting and waiting for the starting shot to go. I heard it, ‘CRACK!’ I began to dart ahead of everyone I thought I was running as fast as a bullet. The audience was cheering so loud but all I could focus on was the race. I had the self confidence that I could win. I heard 500 meters, 400 meters, 300 meters fro the loud speakers. The feeling of excitement was getting to me. My legs were so heavy at this point. 

New I was going to stop but the audience was cheering me on. 200 meters then 100 meters. I was happy but kids were catching up. I saw someone in a hi-vis jacket I was getting closer and closer to him. Then I made it the guy in the hi-vis gave me a hi-five and said good job. THE END!

I am a 7 year old boy.

I am running an 800 meter race.

I can hear:

• The men and women in the high-vis jackets telling me where to stand. 
• My heart was thumping one million miles an hour. 
• The shot from the gun to go.
• I begun to dart ahead of everyone I thought I was as fast as a bullet. 
• The audience was cheering. “Go go go” yelled the audience.

My Writing

Welcome back or to my blog. Today I'm going to be sharing my hotspot doc writing. We try to use the word "the" in are writing to make it descriptive and try not to use the word "I" because I makes it boring. We had to use this image and make some descriptive writing out of it.



Here is my writing:
Find five things related to the senses to describe in this image. Start each one with ‘The…’

1. Boom boom boom, the thunder was loud when the lighting struck the water. 
2. The clouds where getting darker and darker but then lighting hit.
3. The waves rose higher when the wind started to roar them up.
4. The lighting hitting the waves were so powerful that I could feel them from the bay of the beach.
5. The cry of joy was getting into me. “Mother Nature at her finest”.

Crystals

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. Today's post is going to be about my crystal experiment. Did you know that crystals are formed by space, water and time. For our experiment we had to get borax, hot water and pipe cleaners.

We got 3 pipe cleaners and put them in a bowl shape with holes. Crystals are usually made from a pure mineral. If you look at the video with a good eye you will see some borax crystals at the bottom of the pipe cleaner. Some peoples crystals are not forming on the pipe cleaners but forming on the bottom of the cup. I think my borax crystals will form on the pipe cleaners.

My Math Learning

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm talking to you about the context of measurement. This means understanding the words and the task. For my class's learning we had to measure the length of the couch, Piano and Bookshelf.

Length is the longest part of an object.
The Length of the Couch is 127 cm


The width of the Piano is the shortest part.
The Pianos Width is 24.8 cm

For the last part we had to use a non-standard object to see the width of the bookshelf. The object I used was a magazine holder and for the width of the bookshelf it was only 1.

Metamorphic Rock Experiment!

Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm talking to you about our metamorphic rock experiment.

Metamorphic rocks are formed by heat and pressure. Sedimentary and igneous rocks can also be formed into metamorphic rocks by heat and pressure. 

In my group The Spys we made metamorphic rocks with chocolate. So first some groups grated chocolate. My group and some others groups got grated chocolate and tinfoil. I got a little bit of tinfoil also a little bit of grated chocolate and wrapped it up. Then squished it together till it was hard.

Weathering

Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm talking to you about weathering. I have a image to share with you so keep reading and looking, enjoy.

The weathering has different movement and different parts. It starts at a top of a mountain. First rain goes into the cracks of rocks, and then freezes overtime. The next step is the ice melts and makes the rocks go into little Pieces down the mountain.

Next me and my group made a little world, in the word we put a mountain a river and a lake.

Sedimentary Experiment

Today I'm am talking to you about earth science. We did a experiment with sedimentary rocks, this experiment took a week to finish. My partner was Shadrach he was the one that videoed me.

First we had to mix the ingredients to make the first layer of sedimentary. In the first layer we put rocks big and small. For the second layer we put shells and I think more rocks we also dyed this layer to see all the layers but now you can't see any layers because the dye was not a mineral.

For the third layer I forget what we put in but it was also dyed it. For the forth layer we dye it again and we put more rocks and shells. We broke the sedimentary rock to see how the layers are formed.

Welcome back to my blog. Today i'm going to be telling you about Life Education Trust, and what we learnt with Harold the Giraffe. So with learning with Harold we also had a lady named Siobhan. They set as a challenge and we had to do it on a Google Doc.

This doc is about Thinking Styles because when we had Harold there was 4 groups of animals. One was a Golden Retriever, Beavers, Lion and a Otter.

We also had are Strengths that we thought about are self's and are friend. We also had what a Upstander and Bystander. But now here is my doc.

My ANZAC Art

We did this for 1 hour a day in the afternoon. We used pastels and blank papers to make the poppy flowers then after colour in the background. Enjoy

Palm Oil is Bad?

Hello everyone welcome back to my blog,

Today I will be telling you why palm oil is bad. We have been learning all of this information in a group I am learning to ask questions before, during, and after (This is Comprehension). I will be telling you more information about why I think palm oil is bad here is one of my reasons. Palm oil is bad because companies are putting names like vegetable oil in said of palm oil and people that want to stop eating palm oil products don't know that they are eating palm oil. Now here is my side.
